i originally started this online journal with the intention of using it both to share where i am with friends/family as i relocate this year from san francisco to chicago, and also to note some of my (a newcomer to chicago) observations on my new home city. it turns out that i also use this blog sometimes to share my perspective on things unrelated (at least directly) to me or to chicago… in these instances i hope to provide information and background on topics that have caught my eye but seem under-reported or represented. these are not necessarily especially carefully chosen, nor do i intend to be comprehensive — i just use this site to share some of my observations on earth.
